今年秋天的五十年前，影史最可怕駭人的恐怖片首度登上大銀幕，驚嚇了全球無數的觀眾。
如今，一個全新的篇章即將於今年10月13日的星期五再度展開。
曾經製作許多賣座恐怖片的布倫屋製作公司以及曾經成功重啟《月光光心慌慌》系列的導演大衛高登格林，又將推出《大法師：信徒》一片。
自從他的愛妻12年前在海地大地震發生時不幸死於難產之後，維克多菲爾汀（《漢密爾頓》東尼獎得主及《邁阿密的一夜》奧斯卡獎入圍者小萊斯利奧多姆飾）就一個人獨自撫養他們的女兒安潔拉（Netflix影集《乖乖女》麗迪亞朱威特飾）。
但是當安潔拉和她的好友凱瑟琳（新進演員奧莉薇亞瑪肯姆飾）在樹林中消失不見，三天後卻又突然回家，完全不記得自己發生了什麼事情之後，就引發了一連串的詭異事件，迫使維克多不得不面對有邪惡力量作祟的可能性，於是他出於絕望和恐懼，就向唯一親眼目睹這種事卻仍然活著的人求助：克莉絲麥尼爾。
自從演出1973年的經典恐怖片《大法師》之後，奧斯卡獎得主艾倫鮑絲汀在這部全新電影中首度再次飾演她的經典角色克莉絲麥尼爾，這個經典角色在《大法師》一片中是一名女演員，她的女兒在五十年前遭遇的駭人事件永遠改變了她的一生。
這部電影的主要演員還包括艾美獎得主安道得（影集《使女的故事》、《宿怨》），她飾演安潔拉的鄰居，葛萊美獎得主珍妮弗奈特勒斯（《哈莉特：廢奴之戰》、喜劇影集《神祐家族》）以及兩度東尼獎得主諾伯特里奧巴茲（迷你影集《佛西與薇登》、Netflix影集《血脈》），他們分別飾演安潔拉的好友凱瑟琳的父母。
